Naloxone policies

Having local or organisational policies on Naloxone distribution or administration are essential for staying both within the law, and within the rules imposed by an employer. The policies and draft Patient Group Directives (PGDs) here can be used as a starting point for drafting your own. (Which once drafted we'd love to feature here to help others).

Glasgow Patient Group Direction

A naloxone PGD is a written agreement that in the case of naloxone allows nurses or pharmacists to distribute the drug to people at risk of overdose.  The PGD here from Greater Glasgow and Clyde is an excellent example that you can use as a bases for developing your own. for more on PGDs see the UK Law section of this site.
